This year even more than the previous ones, the world of fashion is shaken by a shock wave. London and Los Angeles banned fur from catwalks for the first time ever. Also, consumers, alerted by the various investigations refuse clothing and accessories with fur or leather.

The spotlight on the conditions of production of these products encourages designers to change their collections for more respect towards animals, workers and the environment.

At Arsayo, we did not wait for the world to change to offer an alternative.

From the start, we decided to design a product without any animal material, which is just as beautiful and comfortable to wear as leather. Today we join the long list of creators labeled by the American association PETA. For us, it's important to show you that we take this commitment seriously.

At present, vegan certification is neither mandatory or regulated by law. However, we believe that it is necessary for you to choose a product that meets your requirements, which the label can guarantee.

This logo is a pledge of confidence that we provide you.

But what is PETA?

PETA is a non-profit organization dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.

It's an international association that has been working for several decades. His historical muse is Pamela Anderson. The campaigns that lead the association throughout the world are varied, the most relayed are those concerning fur.

In France, several major brands have marketed collections without leather, wool or fur under the logo "PETA approved Vegan". We find in particular The Kooples or Spirit.

On PETA's English website, the association explains why this label is a good fit: "Our PETA-Approved Vegan logo is a way to recognize these progressive and compassionate companies - and to help ethical consumers identify places to shop with confidence, knowing that they do not support the exploitation of animals.

Another reason pushes us towards a refusal of the use of leather: the preservation of the environment. In an emergency that is the one we know today, it is more than necessary to change our methods of production and consumption.

We do not always see behind the scenes, because our manufactured products arrive in our cupboards and the manufacturing process is not explained on the packaging!

Leather is a by-product of the meat industry and emits 18% of the planet's greenhouse gases. Cattle breeding is 80% responsible for the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. In addition, livestock is the source of many spills of excrement, antibiotics, chemicals in rivers and oceans. The resources used by livestock to produce 1 kg of leather can have environmental impacts 20 times higher than those needed to produce 1 kg of synthetic materials.

The process of leather tanning is also extremely polluting: the toxic waste resulting from this treatment is dumped on the ground and pollutes groundwater, causing serious diseases in the inhabitants of regions where tanneries are numerous.

In addition to the impact significantly lower than the leather on the environment, the synthetic material (synthetic PU, Polyurethane in the case of Arsayo bags) has many advantages:

  • Can be cleaned easily with a humid cloth
