The Vegan Flag
Nowadays, the different communities all gather around flags, which symbolize their values, their existence and their cause. We can see this in particular with the Rainbow Flag which was one of the first community flags to spread internationally until it was the first community flag to appear in the emoji keyboard of smartphones. In the vegan world, it is the Vegan Flag that represents the international movement, and the fight for the animal rights.
Being vegan is not limited to diet, even if making your diet more environmentally friendly is already a very respectable step forward. Rather, veganism is defined as a way of life in its own right, which advocates the possibility of another world, in which all living beings deserve respect and life. Compassion is at the heart of this way of life, because it naturally brings consideration for all creatures, and invites us to perpetually question ourselves about our way of consuming, about the human relationship with nature and the animal world. Veganism makes it possible to evolve towards a world where Love and compassion are essential values.
As Michel Ohayon says (the Arsayo cofounder) : "All that matters is Love !"
Veganism is one of the Arsayo key values. We believe in a Fashion world that is respectful to the humans, the environnement and the animals.
As long as we spread Love to all beings, only good and positivity will result. Here are some inspiring quotes:
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progresscan be judged by the way its animals are treated.”Gandhi
“My body will not be a tomb for other creatures.”Leonardo Da Vinci
“Animals are my friends. And I don’t eat my friends.”George Bernard Show
But where did this green, blue and white flag come from?
The Vegan Flag was launched in June 2017 by a group of activists founded by designer Gad Hakimi and with the help from Patrizia Barretto who created the community for bringing global recognition to the symbol. They also promoted the slogan “Every important movement in history has a powerful and memorable flag”. The group is positioned on the fact that "this flag is open source, anyone can use it, share it, print it and even sell it". The flag is therefore shared regardless of the group that created it, which gave it visibility and international use very quickly.
And what is the meaning of the design?
The three colors of the Vegan Flag were not chosen at random. Indeed, the green symbolizes all landing creatures, the blue parts represent the creatures of the sky and the water, while the white aspires to the unity of all these creatures among themselves.
